Birds of prey, like this Sharp-shinned hawk, are creatures of habit, especially when that habit leads to success in hunting.  Apart from breeding and sustaining the species, hawks are mostly about hunting and catching things to eat.  This bird actually caught a sparrow in a bush near the house, and as I figured, within a day or two he was back, doing pretty much the same routine to see if he could secure another meal.  This time, he wasn’t as lucky.
