We were gifted with what turned out to be a rare treat around here.  Short-Eared Owls started to congregate at a wildlife area about an hour from home, and many birders and photographers had the time of their life there for about a month.  Once harsher weather came in and the snow got too deep and crusted over to hunt for voles, they all left but it was great while it lasted.  Amazing birds to watch.
